Our Story

Preserving the Gujarati bhajan tradition, supporting families through difficult times, and keeping these songs alive for every generation.

Every Gujarati family knows the moment: the room is full, the diya is lit, and someone begins a bhajan. Voices join one by one — some strong, some trembling — until the whole gathering is singing as one. In that moment, grief becomes remembrance, and remembrance becomes love.

But we also know the other moment — when the photocopied song sheets run out, when the younger generation cannot read the Gujarati script, when a beloved bhajan is half-remembered and the room falls quiet.

BhajanBook began as one family's answer. Over years of prayer meetings and satsangs, Rakesh Sudhirchandra Patel gathered the bhajans our community sings most — carefully typed, checked line by line, and set into a booklet with clear Gujarati type and gentle transliteration, so that grandparents and grandchildren could sing from the same page.

That booklet — the Bhajanavali — is now shared freely with everyone. Sixty-eight bhajans: the Hanuman Chalisa and beloved aartis, Swaminarayan kirtans, Sai bhajans, and the tender songs of the final journey. Each one is paired with a recording by the singers our community loves — Hemant Chauhan above all — so you can listen, learn, and sing along.
